Battle of Bosworth Wines, located in Willunga south of McLaren Vale, was founded by Joch Bosworth and Louise Hemsley-Smith in 2001. The Edgehill Vineyard, established in the early 1970s by Peter and Anthea Bosworth, has been managed by Joch since 1995, when he began converting it to certified organic viticulture. Willunga, settled around 1837, once had a diverse agricultural industry, including a significant almond sector that declined due to competition from the Riverland region. Edgehill Vineyard was set up on a former almond grove. The vineyard’s grapes, planted in the 1970s, are used to produce both Battle of Bosworth Wines and Spring Seed Wine Co, established in 2008. Emphasizing experimentation, traditional vinification, minimal processing, and sustainable practices, the winery aims to reflect the purity and character of its organically grown grapes.
